A unique accounting system for people who are visually impaired. Basicly it works the same as a visual accounting system except that it speaks to the user as they navigate through the system. For example, when the user presses the tab key, it will speak what the cursor is in, for example, the date of an invoice they are entering. By pressing the F4 function key they will have the value of that field spoken to them. Text to speech is already built into Windows, so why not have it work for you?
It will be a modified version of our DBISAM standard version. More info on all the modules as they are completed. Source code at this time will not be for sale.
When accounts payables is selected an option list will be presented. By pressing the up and down cursor keys you can select what option you want to select. When you select a different option it will speak the option you have just selected. The first option is to enter a new payables invoice. You would tab over to the Okay button and press enter to select that option.
The payables entry form would be presented and the first task would be to select the vendor of this invoice. By pressing the first two or three letters of the vendors name, the system will search on these and select the closest vendor. You may then press the up and down cursor keys to browse the remainder of the vendor to find the one you want. Tab to the next edit box and enter the accounting period to post this invoice in. The default here would be the current month. Tab again and you would be the date of the invoice. This also would default to the current date. Change this by entering the date of the invoice if needed. Tab again to enter the edit box for the invoice number. The next edit box is for the amount of the invoice. (This will be used to calculate the balance of the invoice should you need to enter more than one detail record to break down the invoice to more than one general ledger account.) The next remainder of the edit boxes are optional and are there to provide more information when called upon later in reports. Those fields are the purchase order number, description of the invoice and the due date of the invoice.
Once this information has been entered, you can tab into the grid and enter the detail of the invoice. The default company and department of the user will be automaticly entered and the default general ledger account number assigned to the vendor will also be entered to speed the entry of the invoice. Confirm that the account number is correct, press enter to move to the next cell. As you move, the application will speak the column name of the grid so you know exactly where you are at all times. By pressing the F4 function key, the value of the cell is spoken back to you. The next cell will be the amount of the invoice or the balance of the invoice if you are entering more than one detail record for the invoice. Again, by pressing the F4 function key you can have the value spoken back to you. When you have completed the entry of the detail and it matches the invoice amount, the application will mention that the invoice balances and you can tab to the okay button and save the invoice and exit the entry of the invoice.
