GL Accounts can be setup as either Debit or Credit accounts. i.e. GST in AP.
Import and export transactions. Space delimited. Export a transaction to get an idea of how it is setup.
Below is the main form for all GL functions. Transactions that have been entered but not posted are displayed here. The top grid shows the header info for the transaction while the bottom grid show the details. This is done so the user does not have to edit or print the details to see them. This proves to be a time saver for users who have many transactions that are currently un-posted.

The screen shot below shows the edit form for the transaction. If the option for multiple companies (divisions and departments) has been
chosen, the columns in the grid will appear. Otherwise, they will not.
As the transaction detail items are added, the totals for those columns will appear and show the balance that needs to be entered. If the user closes this form before the transaction balances, the transaction will
automatically be placed on hold and will bypassed when transactions are posted.

Below is the grid showing the accounts in the system. (T = account type) (V = Value - Debit or Credit) All accounts can have a parent account assigned. This allows accounts to be consolidated into one for the Income Statement (P&L).

GL ACCOUNT EDIT
Below is the edit options for the GL accounts in the system. The "Value" option is for accounts like "GST" in Accounts Payable. Where they should be a credit (liability) but are treated as a debit type account.
